1. What brought you to Armor CrossFit ?
We moved here in mid-2014 after having started CrossFit in Jacksonville in 2009. One of my husband and my first priorities was finding a new box. We ended up at another place a bit closer to our home, but decided after about a year there that it just wasn’t the true CrossFit atmosphere that we desired. We switched over to Armor and have absolutely loved it. The coaches, the programming, and all the members make it a wonderful place.
2. How has Armor CrossFit helped you become a stronger person both physically and mentally?
I started to get a bit of a lazy/ unmotivated feeling going to the box we tried before Armor. I was losing the desire to get in there and do my best. That all changed when I came to Armor. I felt a new determination to excel at each WOD and I also recommitted myself to a healthy eating plan. I started at Armor in January 2015 and since then have achieved workout and lift PRs after hitting a bit of a lull in my progress during our move from Jacksonville. I’m super excited to see what I can do each time and I feel myself mentally going further than I have in the past. I try to set a goal score before I start each WOD and it’s fun to see how close I can get.
3. What is your favorite part about working out at the box?
The added pressure of the group dynamic that pushes me to go harder than I would on my own. I also love seeing others do well and the fun involved in helping cheer them on to do their best.
4. If you could tell one person that has never been to the box, one reason they should come, what would that be?
Once you start, you won’t want to stop. It can be so hard to get into the habit of working out and continually striving for good health, but the fun of CrossFit is addictive.
5. Brief Bio….birthplace, family, etc
I was born in Atlanta, GA and moved around a bunch (my Dad was in the Navy) until we made it to St. Marys, GA when I was in the 3rd grade. We stayed there until my junior year in high school, when we moved to Jacksonville, FL. I finished high school there, then I majored in building construction at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. After college I returned to Jacksonville to pursue my construction management career. I worked doing project management and estimating for two different companies for about 7 years (until our first child was born). Dustin and I started dating in high school, but did not get married until over 10 years later in the summer of 2008. We had our first daughter, Kaylee, in April 2010, and Amber was born in October 2011. We liked Jacksonville, but for a number of reasons decided it would be fun to move. Dustin works from home so we were pretty free to choose where we wanted to go. After years of consideration and again, for a number of reasons, we decided on Winter Garden. It has been a wonderful change for our family and we are really happy here. We found a great church and have made many dear friends there and we are also happy to be getting more involved in the Armor family and getting to know everyone there better as well. I look forward to many more years of awesome WODs and fun times with you all.
